Not being one who frequents live performances, I'm looking at this from
quite a distance.  I would say that the first priority is to provide a wide
range of different classical music to the applicable local/regional market.
Second would be to key on composers and works that the musical director
prefers.

I wouldn't place any priority on the notion of giving the public what
someone thinks is good for them - none of that condescending stuff.
