Lydian is HNH recycling old Naxos releases at a cheaper price; as well
as a few new recordings which didn't seem to find a distribution niche
anywhere else. Not surprisngly, there are a few real gems in the mix;
but probably a couple of dogs as well. One Lydian original i particularly
like is: "Scandanavian String Music" (Orchestra of the Mill/Andrew Penny;
18132). It's a fine, light & not exactly obvious (Grieg, Nielsen, Bull,
Svendsen & Gade... all they needed was Lars-Erik larsson to make the set
complete) selection; superbly played by a (British? regional?) orchestra
about whom i know absolutely nothing....
All the best,
