I heard a CD of his Symphonies 1 and 5, but I don't remember a thing
about either. I've never heard of Villem Kapp. Sorry.

I loved Abravanel's music-making. He had, as they say, culchah.
My introduction to Mahler, Satie, Milhaud, and Honegger came from his
recordings. I think he had problems with his players -- not quite first
rate -- but they did many interesting things. I suspect he stayed in
Utah because he got to run the show his way. More power to him.
