Yes, the Washington Post ran an article, and we put the following notice
about it in a recent ASTC INFORMS electronic newsletter (before she won her
silver medal).

Lauryn Williams, a 20-year-old NCAA champion sprinter, was fastest in her
heat for the women’s 100 meter race. Ten years ago, at the Carnegie Science
Center, Lauryn was intrigued by an exhibit that challenged passers-by to
sprint down a 10-meter track against the flashing silhouette of the late
Florence Griffith-Joyner. She ran morning to late afternoon determined to
beat the silhouette. Eventually, she did...and is now a U.S. medal contender
at the Olympics.

Just before the women¹s 100M dash Saturday night, the announcer said that
American sprinter Lauryn Williams was inspired to run by an exhibit at the
Carnegie Science Center, Pittsburgh, PA. I think he said the exhibit
encouraged the visitor to race against images of a sprinter projected on the
wall. She raced against the exhibit until she beat it.

Saturday night, Lauryn won the silver medal!

What a story!

Did anyone else hear this?
Did I miss any of the details?
