Hi, my name is Mikael Rasmusson. I'm currently living in Bristol, UK, as
a postdoc in Chemistry. I've been on this list twice before, and I'm now
re-entering because life is somewhat calmer again.
Tonight I'm going to listen to Vaughan Williams' Sea Symphony, although I'm
not feeling very well. I hope I still can enjoy the concert.
I've been reading about the Eroticism in Music in the archives, and didn't
find any reference to Sigismund and Sieglinde in the Ring. Too obvious?
Also Liszt's "der Tanz in die Dorfschaenke" (First Mephistowaltz) must
be a candidate, although it's a very physical eroticism, which seems to
depict the complete physical act. A "purer" eroticism may be find in the
"Gretchen" movement of the Faust Symphony, and also in the middle section
of the first movement in the Dante Symphony.
It's good to be back!
