I've had a harder time finding old aerials here in Ohio, but when I worked on an Army Reserve Post back in Wisconsin, one great resource we had was a series of aerial photos taken of the post, a set every ten years dating back to the 1930s. This allowed me to not only identify many farmstead sites, but also document how they deteriorated post-abandonment after the installation acquired several thousand acres for training during WWII, and to discuss how long certain sites remained more or less intact. It was also vital in identifying old agricultural field boundaries and historical roads.
