The version I heard was about Klemperer and George Mendelssohn, descendent
of the composer and founder of Vox Records, who was recording Klemp at
the time. I think this happened in the USA; Klemp wanted to know if Vox
was getting his records into the shops. When Mendelssohn says, 'No, I'm
Mendelssohn', the clerk is supposed to have said, 'Hey, man, I really
dig your wedding march.'
