This week in southern Minnesota I saw most of the forager bees
coming in with a white streak of pollen or plant material from their
head all the way down their backs.
The mark was so noticeable I thought of Tom Seeley and how he
marks his bees in his experiments.
The pollen they were bringing in was light tan in color, small loads
and very sticky. I saw this going on in 3 different yards so the plant
must be fairly common.
I'm trying to figure out what plant they could have been visiting that
would have a long tube like shape. Any ideas?
