The place that comes to mind wasn't exactly a shack to begin with and
over the years Orff made some pretty swank improvements. It's about 25
minutes by car from Munich set in spledidly verdant and rolling countryside.
The castle from which Bavaria's King Ludwig II strode forth to commit
suicide is an hour's stroll removed. The (former) Dornier factory and
airfield are in the vicinity. Ditto the ancient Benedictine monastery
at Ettal (Orff also spent time near the Benedictine monastery at
Benediktbeuren where there's an annual Orff festival). The place nearer
Munich's been sold twice, I believe, since Orff died there. It's quite
a layout.
