ISEN-ASTC-L is a service of the Association of Science-Technology Centers
Incorporated, a worldwide network of science museums and related institutions.

Colleagues,

We've posted a new resource on the ASTC web site, "Science Centers as
Learning Environments," by Colin Johnson, recently retired head of
Techniquest in Cardiff, Wales. He notes: "The informal learning process
mirrors everyday life much more closely than the formal teaching/learning
situation, and...is a process which human beings undertake not only very
willingly, but with conspicuous success. The work of science centers (and
other informal learning settings) mirrors this natural path..." He reviews
the evidence and offers links to many articles and other resources.

A related piece, also by Colin Johnson, offers advice about "Gaining Support
for Your Science Center."

We hope you find them of use.

Wendy
