I too would like to add my congratulations to the SHA for a wonderful conference in Sacramento. The weather was actually pretty good compared to what it could have been. I was certainly impressed with the creativity exhibited by the conference committee. The large silent auction, dinner and live band at the Masonic Hall on Thursday was great as was the banquet and dance with DJ music on Friday evening. The usually dead Saturday evening was definitely livened up by "Casino Night" with blackjack and craps available, all of which helped the Society as well.

As Bob mentioned, the Program was a bit disconcerting at times with names of presenters not always correct. A software glitch is to blame, but it was definitely amusing at times. There was even a listed paper to be given by my wife, Ann, on a project in central New Mexico, not a place we generally work. Having sponsored an SHA meeting ourselves in Salt Lake in 1999, we understand that there are always things that don't go as planned.

My greatest kudos go to the public session in the Convention Center on Saturday. What an event!
The interactive displays and costumed historical figures in the second floor room were great and the draw that they had was incredible. There were so many people there that I could hardly move through the room and almost all of them were from the general public. The first floor event, largely about new technologies in the field, was equally impressive and full of people. There were over 1500 people who came to the public session. Wow.

Congratuations Dana McGowan, Stacy Schneider, Sanni Osborn, and all of the other Conference Committee members. As time goes on this meeting will fall into memory as one of the more pleasantly forgettable SHA conferences. In the annals of SHA meetings, that is a coveted position to aspire to.
