Carl, Jim Ayres in Tucson has done as much or more than anyone to my
knowledge. He has worked on tie-hack camps on the north slope of the Uinta Mountains
in Wyoming for years as a personal project. He published an article several
years ago in the Society for California Archaeology Proceedings on the subject.
If you are interested, I think I can find the reference.
