And I want to know how much real demand there is for a Domingo Tristan,
particularly given the shape of Domingo's voice these days.  Furthermore,
EMI competes not only against other labels, but against itself: the
Furtwaengler/Fischer-Dieskau/Flagstad/Suthaus (*TWO* separate releases)
and the Karajan/Berry/Ludwig/Vickers.  How much better is this new
recording likely to be?

I do not understand the workings of EMI's corporate brain.
