I think Jaye's analysis rings very true.
I also think after a really difficult birth, there is pressure in a
predominantly formula feeding society not to 'bother' with
breastfeeding, coming from the mother's family. I have seen this
happen many times.
I am also aware that breasteeding campaigns, support organisations
and bf support individuals, volunteer and professional, get a lot of
criticism from women in this situation - the mother's anger, sadness
and disappointment is projected outwards, and we get the flak.
