>I think student LCs can call themselves "aspiring IBCLC" or "IBCLC hopeful".
When I used to speculate about things that were beyond my ability to figure out logically, my father used to sigh and present me with a stack of books. I'm now getting to the point in this conversation in which I would like further comment from the people who do know... from the IBLCE. I hope that they will take to their next board meeting the fact that several people preparing for their IBLCE exam, not to mention many IBCLCs, are confused about the acceptable and unacceptable use of "IBCLC hopeful", "IBCLC (student)" and other descriptors.
And feel free to suggest that I, for one, did not feel the use of the descriptor justified the threat of legal action, nor even a strong statement of disapproval. Information can be presented in many ways, and LCs owe it to themselves to be very careful of how they are coming across to their clients.
