PROPOSED SESSION FOR NEXT YEAR'S ASTC CONFERENCE:
MEDIA-SCIENCE CENTER PARTNERSHIPS
I am interested in putting together a session for next year's ASTC conference
-- workshop format or interactive in spirit -- that focuses on media/science
center or museum partnerships. In the spirit of next year's conference theme
of "sustaining institutional advancement" -- and the related issues of building
audiences and sustaining informal learning, I am especially interested in
partnerships that provide informal learners with an integrated "menu" of learning
experiences that are designed to engage, motivate, and enhance continued
learning.
I currently direct such a project, Celebra la Ciencia, an informal science
partnership that combines the use of mass media (Spanish-language radio &
newspapers) with community outreach provided by science centers and other informal
science organizations. Just to be clear, I am interested in partnerships
involving any languages.
Please let me know if you are interested in the session.
For more information on the project, you can access the project website:
http://www.celebralaciencia.org/
(Note: a completely new project website will be up in approximately two
months.)
Please let me know if you are interested in being a facilitator/presenter at
such as session.
I apologize for this repeat listing; my earlier notice was unclear about
where the session was to be held.
Thank you.
