that just doesn't make sense, in terms of general aims of scientific 
enquiry, etc.
but then, maybe that just shows how little i know about why other people do 
archaeology
which is maybe something we need to take into account when reading reports 
or borrowing data?
how are "reflexive methods" doing in historical archaeology these days?
