Has anybody got experience of portable pumps for removing water from small excavations?

I am looking for recommendations of durable types/brands.

The pump would have to cope with clay (possibly silt) in suspension, but does not have to remove sand and gravel. In other words I do not want a heavy sludge pump.

The pump has to be transportable by air and preferably run off 12 volts DC.
