Dear All

Some good news amongst all the tragedy in London and Iraq etc. David
Barker, Stoke-on-Trent city archaeologist in the UK has been awarded a
doctorate for his published work on post-medieval pottery. He is well
known to many of you from attendimng SHA, CNEHA and ceramics conferences
in the states. This will probably embarass him as he is a modest soul
but also a brilliant archaeologist who has contibuted hugely to post-med
archaeology, and more importantly an all round nice person- Dave and
Miranda kept me from starving when I typically sat on my only piece of
plastic at the Halifax CNEHA conference.
