Good--after my previous post, I had second thoughts--the seller may not
have misrepresented the painting intentionally. He could have had a
faulty appraisal--a "Yeah, it looks old" from, say, his brother-in-law.
He has a good feedback record from eBay. Trying to get eBay to
discipline him could open a real can of worms. Be interesting to see if
the painting attracts more bids as archaeology, than as a (recent)
antiquity or antique.

I just wanted to take a moment to thank everyone who replied to my
question on and off list regarding the painting.......in the end the
seller corrected his listing and no one will be buying the painting
thinking that it is a 19th century piece.......
