<"So is breath really a trigger for aggressive behavior or a target when
<aggressive behavior is triggered by something else?"
I think this statement may be the case. Gentle breaths move bees for me
when the hive is 'happy'. On the other hand, when recently visiting a
queenless (unhappy) hive, the bees reacted very defensively as I peered
into the hive through screened top. My casual breathing (not intentional
blowing on a frame to move bees)started a frenzied buzzing and 'butts-up'
reaction.
