Definitely sensationalized, but still a useful reminder that dangerous
stuff is out there. The risk is compounded by the attitudes of some
old-timers that "we used this stuff for 50 years and no one got hurt so
it can't be that dangerous".
Aside from the unlikely case where you happen to actually have some
extreme hazard in your store room, the biggest issue in containing
disposal expenses is getting everyone into the habit of accurately and
completely labeling everything, even the DI water. If a bottle is not
labeled, you must assume it contains the most hazardous sort of material
and pay accordingly for disposal.
