Subject: SCHAC 8 call for Papers
Call for Papers:
South Central Historical Archaeology Conference (SCHAC 8) September
16-18, 2005 Memphis, Tennessee
SCHAC will be shuffling into Memphis on September 16-18, 2005, so now is
the time to make arrangements. In the tradition of past meetings, this
year's conference promises to be memorable experience.
Papers can be 15-20 minutes in length on any topic related to historical
archaeology in the region. Abstracts should be submitted to Guy Weaver,
Conference Organizer, by August 15, 2005.
The conference hotel will be the Comfort Inn Downtown, 100 N. Front
Street, located across from the Mud Island monorail, within easy access
to the trolley line. A limited number of rooms have been reserved, so
make your reservations soon. Conference rates for
single/double/triple/quad rooms are $84.00+tax, with Executive Business
Class rooms at $104.00+tax. Please call the local number
(901-526-0583) or the toll-free number (1-877-424-6423) and make a
reservation before August 30, 2005 -- after that date, the rooms may no
longer be set aside. Remember to mention SCHAC when you reserve your
room.
The opening reception, with keynote speakers, will be held at the Mud
Island River Museum (http://www.mudisland.com
<http://www.mudisland.com/> ) on Friday afternoon, 4:00pm-7:00 pm.
Papers will be presented all day Saturday at the Shelby County Archives,
located at 150 Washington Avenue, a short stroll from the hotel. A
workshop will be held at Archives on Sunday morning (9am to 12 am).
