I have a special request to any of my Canadian colleagues who are planning
to attend this year's ASTC conference in San Jose later this week.

Ever since I learned that the alloy composition of Canadian coins gave them
magnetic properties different from American money, I always held on to a few
quarters or nickels that got into my loose change. (The others I would just
bury in a roll of coins and hope the bank wouldn't notice...C'mon, we've all
done that ;-) That worked well for a demo or impromptu dialogue. Well,
this fall I would like to use that property for an activity in one of our
inquiry-based electricity & magnetism workshops. Which means I will need
lots of coins.

Surprisingly, I found out it's not that easy to buy a roll of Canadian coins
down here. I was told by one bank that I would need to drive up to Windsor,
Ont. So if I can't get to the coins, maybe the coins can come to me...

Please reply to me off-list if you can buy a few rolls of coins at your
local bank and bring them to the conference. Hey, I won't even bother with
exchange rates! It would be a big help!

Thanks a lot, and see you in San Jose!
