Lecturer/Presenter 
Part Time / Available Immediately

Weekends 12:00 to 4:30; occasional weekday afternoon and Friday evenings

The Andrus Planetarium of the Hudson River Museum is seeking a P/T lecturer/presenter for . The lecturer/presenter will be primarily responsible for running public planetarium shows on weekends, but should be available for occasional weekday (usually schools) and Friday night shows.

The Andrus Planetarium has just completed stage one of a major capital campaign of renovation and upgrade.

Training in planetarium systems and operation provided.

The lecturer/presenter:

- Will be energetic and enthusiastic about science education

- Will work independently, and be prompt and dependable

- Will have a solid foundation in astronomy and the physical sciences

- Will have experience instructing students at all ages and levels

- Will be a clear, confident and articulate speaker

- Will be able to climb ladders, move large objects (slide projectors, ladders) of up to 20 lbs.,
and perform basic troubleshooting. Major or problematic maintenance issues are reported to and addressed
by the planetarium coordinator.

- Will have excellent customer service skills, and exhibit maturity in behavior toward visitors

Candidates should have a college degree in astronomy, science, engineering, communications, education, or computer science, although equivalent experience and enthusiasm will be considered.
