Position Title: Assistant Director of Development


Reports To: Director of Development




Position Overview:

The Assistant Director of Development is responsible for the general
management of the Kidspace corporate giving program.  In addition, the
Assistant Director will coordinate many aspects of the Museum's events, will
act as a liaison with the Circle of Friends and other key volunteers for the
Museum, and will also organize the annual Rosebud Parade.



Major Tasks and Responsibilities:



*       Assist in the creation and implementation of the corporate giving
program.

*       Research and initiate communication with potential funding sources
for capital campaign corporate giving program.

*       Create strategy for corporate membership program and implement plan
for corporate annual giving.

*       Support the plan and aid in the continued building of relationships
through corporate sponsorship program.

*       Aid the director in planning of special events.

*       Responsible for the recognition and stewardship of donors and
attendees following special events.

*       Act as a liaison to the Circle of Friends, and other key volunteers
for the Museum.

*       Manage all aspects annual Rosebud Parade.



Other Associated Tasks:



* Keep abreast of trends in fundraising industry.

* Participate in professional development activities (Center for Non-Profit
Management, Association of Fundraising Professionals).

* Manage L.A. County Arts Commission summer intern.

* Assist with special events as directed.

* Attend fundraising functions (preview parties, Circle of Friends events)
as needed.





Experience/Qualifications:



* A baccalaureate degree is required.

* 2-5 years of corporate fundraising experience.  Experience in museum
setting a plus.

* Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; writing and public
speaking skills; organizational and planning skills; attention to detail and
follow-through capabilities.
