We have both a printed member newsletter (quarterly) and a monthly email
bulletin that both members and non-members can opt in to.  When an email
bounces once, we flag it.  If it bounces again the following month, we take
the email off the list.

Dear Colleagues,
 
Can anyone give advice on the best way of communicating to members for
invitations to events, newsletters and other correspondence?  We have begun
to send invitations and our newsletter via email to reduce the cost of
printing & postage.  However, we have run into a host of problems with bad
email addresses and server issues leaving the vast majority of our members
not receiving any of our correspondence.  
How are other museums communicating with your members?  How do you deal with
returned emails marked as undeliverable?
