Lynda,

A number of years ago I did a small test excavation on a turn of the
century (19th/20th centuries that is) resort in the eastern Upper
Peninsula of Michigan called Maywood Park. This operation seemed to
peek between ca. 1902 and 1917 though there was recreational activity at
Maywood before and after that time (it is currently a FS campground).
The resort hosted a range of tourists. There are at least 2 CRM reports
on the site and one conference paper (see below) that deal with the
site. I would recommend contacting John Franzen at the Hiawatha
National Forest about getting copies of the technical reports
([log in to unmask]) and Kyran Kelley for the conference paper
([log in to unmask]).

Cheers,

Sean
