When the Site is a Scene?

A Forensic Archaeology Course

June 5-9 at Lincoln Nebraska

Campus housing may be available.

Historic Archaeologists are more and more frequently asked to assist law enforcement in recovery of human remains. But there are some fundamental differences in completing forensic work and excavating a historic burial. The archaeologist must understand the chain of evidence, security issues, and expert witness requirements.

This week-long workshop will cover:
            Grave location techniques
            Forensic excavation techniques
            Grave taphonomy
            Writing a forensic report
Biohazard issues in working with fresh or decomposing bodies
            Chain of evidence
Expert witness testimony in both Frye and Daubert states
                        (and what that is..)
