If they really were felt it would have been a tight fit.  On the 
other hand, Gene Prince (whom I don't know) just mentions caps, 
beanies, and jackets so they were more inventive than me and my peers 
were.  Think of the interpretation of "ceremonial use" for such 
collections in 1000 years when the Our Gang films are gone.
