I would like to inform you of the upcoming National Park Service

archeological prospection workshop to be held May 15-19 at Fort Frederica

on St. Simons Island, Georgia.  The workshop is open to all archeologists

and students as well as those interested in forensic studies and cemetery

investigations.  Please note that on May 20th, we will be holding an

equipment fair at the workshop which will be open to everyone in addition

to the course's participants.  We hold to have the major manufacturers of

geophysical equipment designed for archeological investigations present at

the open house.  Please pass this information on to your students, faculty,

and staff.

National Park Service’s 2006 Archaeological Prospection Workshop



The National Park Service’s 2006 workshop on archaeological prospection

techniques entitled Current Archaeological Prospection Advances for

Non-Destructive Investigations in the 21st Century will be held May 15-19,

2006, at the Fort Frederica National Monument on St. Simons Island,

Georgia.  Lodging will be at the Quaility Inn Island House on St. Simons

Isalnd, Georgia.  This will be the sixteenth year of the workshop dedicated

to the use of geophysical, aerial photography, and other remote sensing

methods as they apply to the identification, evaluation, conservation, and

protection of archaeological resources across this Nation.  The workshop

this year will focus on the theory of operation, methodology, processing,

interpretation, and on-hands use of the equipment in the field.   There is

a tuition charge of $475.00.  Application forms are available on the

Midwest Archeological Center’s web page at <http://www.cr.nps.gov/mwac/>.
