Hi Carol et al,

So you don't think I've disappeared, please know that I have been reading
all of the postings with great attention, and well respect the banter that
is happening. I think it's an important discourse and have welcomed all of
the personal requests for additional information that have come my way. As
has been mentioned on one of the newsgroups, casting for television is very
much like for a play...there is a script written for a character and then it
is our job to fill that role. To ask for a male is not to say that a female
does not have these qualities or attributes, and in terms of "youthful"
please note that it does not necessarily mean young, as the oldest of the
candidates in the current pool is close to 60. There are a number of women
who have submitted CV's to me, and in that regard I am keeping these on
file, as each show will also have field specialists (for which we are not
yet casting) and these will be men AND women. For that, I encourage anyone
to apply, but please do know that it will be filed away for a little bit.
What we are looking for at the present moment is what has been advertised.
I would also like to assure everyone, however, that within the constraints
of the part that was mandated by the script/network, we are doing our best
to find someone qualified in archaeology, who is not just a "pretty face."
Acting responsibly, we are reaching out to the archaeology community in the
hopes that we do not find Indiana Jones or Lara Croft, but someone who has a
similar appeal AND legitimacy in the field. We are also looking at a number
of different ethnicities, for anyone believing that Indiana Jones appeal is
limited to Harrison Ford look-alikes.

I do hope this alleviates some of the tension. And thank you to everyone
who has put time into thinking about the project, however positively or
negatively, as it is through Hegelian discourse that we will hopefully ALL
grow.

Megan
