Field School Announcement:
Field School in Historical and Industrial Archaeology
The 2005 field school through the University of Arkansas-Fayetteville will
take place at the site of Van Winkle’s Mill, a late-nineteenth-century Ozark
sawmill community in Benton County, Arkansas. The course will include
hands-on excavation and laboratory analysis, mapping and GPS, complemented
with lectures on historical and industrial archaeology, and instruction
concerning material culture analysis.
Transportation will be provided to and from the site, housing will be
available. This six hour course is open to undergraduate and graduate
students.
Note: Out-of-state tuition will be waived for all participants in this field
school.
Cost for undergraduate students is $975, graduate students $1602.
University Housing will cost approximately $975 (subject to change-call for
updates).
