I should think you would expect metal filings, trimming scrap, fuel, rejects,
and junk metal in various work stations around the floor of a blacksmith
shop. Depending on the age of the site, the transition into the Industrial
Revolution should be reflected in varying metallurgical compositions of the scrap
metals. I would bet the traditional smithy solutions did not work well with the
new metals.
