Well Jeff, it depends on who is doing the rubbing and why. If everyone
selfishly did rubbings for their own collections, then the hastening of loss of the
inscription would be a loss to the community and family. If the rubbing is
done because the cemetery is threatened or to publish or record the information
in a repository, then the rubbing might be justifiable.
