Archaeology Advisory Panel
The Heritage Council is inviting expressions of interest for appointment to its Archaeological
Advisory Panel.
The Heritage Council of NSW is strongly committed to raising community awareness of the state’s
historical archaeological relics through education, promotion and setting best practice standards
for appropriate management of this valuable resource. The role of the Archaeology Advisory Panel is
to supplement and enhance the Heritage Office’s knowledge and experience in relation to historical
archaeology, and to guide the Heritage Council and Heritage Office through a process of major change
in the management of historical archaeological resources in NSW, as well as related archaeological
matters.
Applicants for the Archaeology Advisory Panel must be able to demonstrate a sound working knowledge
of the Heritage Act, and roles of the Heritage Council / Heritage Office. Panel members should also
be able to demonstrate a contribution and commitment to broader archaeological endeavour, including
participation in professional groups and activities, community involvement and public outreach for
archaeology.
