Interesting items at the Ojai Festival, June 4-6: Kent Nagano conducting
the festival orchestra and singers from the LA Opera's Resident Artist
Program in Orff's "Die Kluge"; and the LA Opera Orchestra in both the
instrumental and choral versions of Schoenberg's "Friede auf Erden"
(and the Chanticleer in a new edition of Ockeghem's "Missa Ecce ancilla
domini," plus Kurt Rohde's "Double Trouble") => www.ojaifestival.org.
Marin Alsop leads the Cabrillo Festival, in Santa Cruz, Aug. 1-15, in
works by Adams, Assad, Puts, Wolfe, Kernis, Knussen and Higdon, among
others - brave new music, but short on vocal works this year =>
