Regina Resnik, 82, who made her Met debut in 1942 - and sang for 39
seasons there, several here, in the War Memorial - will be MC and narrator
at the Music at Meyer concert series season-opener on Dec. 13 in San
Francisco's Temple Emanu-El. The program, "American Jewish Composers
in Classical Song," will mark the 350th anniversary of the first Jewish
settlers' arrival in America (1654).

The concert will include first performances of music by by both renowned
and neglected composers, including Leonard Bernstein, David Diamond, San
Francisco native Frederick Jacobi, contemporary West Coast composer David
Schiff, and others. Performers include soprano (and Temple Emanu-El
cantor) Roslyn J. Barak, tenor Michael Philip Davis, baritone Charles
Robert Stephens, pianist Vlad Iftinka. Later in the season, Music at
Meyer will also feature the Borodin String Quartet, which is nearing its
60th year. The Website - http://www.musicatmeyer.org - doesn't have the
information yet, but details should be posted there soon.
