Can you tell me a little about these composers?

I see something by de Alvear on eBay, but it's a 50 min work for solo
piano (evocatively called En Amor Duro; or, in a more anaemic lingo, In
Hard Love), so shudder and hesitate.  Then again, at US$5 it may be worth
the risk...?
