I have not done any strict test trials on this, but I have been paying
attention these last couple of years on how comb is drawn out on
foundation, with housal positioning in mind, with different frame
orientations in the brood nest and honeysupers.  I have found there to be
no difference in the success of straight drawn comb, which ever way the
combs are placed in the hive.  Burr comb ,miss drawn drone comb and sutch
have no relation to my success in drawing comb or with the arrangement of
food stores and brood nest pattern in the hive.  Like I said, I have not
done any formal trials on it, but this is what i conclude from my
observations.  The biggest factor in successfull straight drawn comb is
best with a heavey honey flow, and/or heavey feeding., not to mention
stronge healthy hives full of younger bees.  Given those two factors,
foundatin will be drawn out perfect nearly every time.
I now dont waste my time thinking of housal positiioning
