But Jane, what you seem to really be asking is for approval. Assuming this  
is a federal project and a Section 106 test, surely there are provisions for  
protecting the site? How about parking vehicles over the features? How about  
having a forklift drop those heavy steel plates (half inch thick steel) over 
the  features until you can get to them? We all have had bulldozers breathing 
down  our necks, angry construction crews, and bottle hunters lurking in the 
darkness.  Still, if you call it archaeology you cant just rip it out with a 
backhoe.
