Dog, cat and coyote tracks are found on fired clay floor tiles at the Royal
Presidio de San Diego, California. Dog tracks were also found on tiles used in
building the merlones of Bateria de los Guijarros at the mouth of San Diego
Bay (dating the tracks some time between 1796 and about 1835). These tracks
attract a lot more attention from the visiting public than do Spanish Majolica
pottery, cannon ball, or British trade pottery.
