Stephen,

If it is a hall-mark then 'Jackson's Silver and Gold marks of England,
Scotland, and Ireland from 1300 to the present day' might help. However,
Hall marks are stamped just before finishing an object rather than
moulded. If it is a moulded part of a cast design - then it is not a
hall mark. If it a British piece there should be at least two other
marks present.

The context is probably from the 18th century. Does anyone know any good sources for identifying this apparent touch mark?
