Judith Lang Zaimont's "Hidden Heritage: A Dance Symphony" To Be Performed
by Contemporary Music Forum in Maryland and Virginia

The Contemporary Music Forum, resident new music ensemble at Washington,
D.C.'s Corcoran Gallery of Art, will present Judith Lang Zaimont's "Hidden
Heritage: A Dance Symphony" in concerts on the following dates:

Tuesday, November 9, 7:30 PM at Loyola College in Maryland's DeChiaro
College Center, Fine Arts Recital Room, Charles Street in Baltimore.
This concert is free and open to the public.  For more information,

Thursday, November 11, 8:00 PM at the University of Virginia at
Charlottesville's Old Cabell Hall Auditorium, Jefferson Park Avenue in
Charlottesville.  This concert is free and open to the public.  For more

"Hidden Heritage: A Dance Symphony" for flute/alto flute, clarinet/bass
clarinet/tenor saxophone, electric piano, amplified cello and percussion
was commissioned by the Baltimore Dance Theatre and Baltimore Museum of
Art.  It was first performed at the Baltimore Museum of Art in June,
1987 and has since been performed in Columbia, Maryland, at Indiana
University of Pennsylvania and by the Polaris Ensemble.  It has been
recorded for Arabesque Records as part of "Neon Rhythm -- Chamber Music
of Judith Lang Zaimont" (CD Z6667).

Other works on these concerts include Anthony Villa's "Trio No. 2" for
clarinet, cello and piano, Douglas Boyce's "Ox House Camel Door" for
solo cello, Steve Antosca's "traces of spirit whispers" for pianos and
computer and George Crumb's "Madrigals, Book II" for soprano, flutes and
percussion.

Performers for these concerts include CMF members David Lonkevich,
flute, Anne Ament, clarinet, bass clarinet, Whit Williams, tenor
saxophone, Lori Barnet, cello, Clinton Adams, piano and Barry Dove,

Judith Lang Zaimont is internationally recognized for her distinctive
style, characterized by its expressive strength and dynamism.  Most
recently she has been Featured Composer for 2002 - National Federation
of Music Clubs, 2003 Commissioned Composer of the California Music
Teachers Association, Commissioned Composer for the 2003 International
San Antonio Piano Competition, and recipient of a 2003 Aaron Copland
Award (commissions, residency).

Her biography is found in most standard reference works (e.g.,
New Grove's), and she is the subject both of individual chapters in
specialist volumes and major articles in professional journals [The
Clarinet, Fanfare, NATS Journal, Choral Journal, International Piano,
