Two points on this subject:
As far as I am aware, there are no beekeepers in for instance
Sweden that ever use any patties (let those that do come
forward, so that we can learn..).
Also, in Sweden you will have a hard time finding any drones
in the month October, or for that matter even September, so
the other readers should be aware that your statement only
applies to your specific condition and location.
But perhaps we can all find an equivalent situation be it
earlier or later in the year and still allowing application of your
suggested hint.
