Although I do not know if anyone ever excavated the site, a CCC Spike Camp in
Oriflame Canyon (now in the Anza-Borrego Desert State Park) was reported and
described by Dan Bell in 1976. He worked for a private land developer who
proposed a housing subdivision, but sold the land to California State Parks after
an earthquake sealed the water source. Perhaps State Parks has conducted more
work since Bell left the site?
