Congratulations to the SHA 2004 Conference

All of us who just came back from SHA 2004 in St. Louis will, I am sure,
want to congratulate the organizers of the
annual meetings for 2004. The meetings were a complete success, very well
organized, interesting and held in a wonderful
setting. The St Louis Union Station (and Hyatt) was not only historic and
spectacular but everything was convenient and
under one roof.

We had almost all sunny days with a few warming up from the cold spell. All
the primary events came off quite well -
SHA Business meeting, opening sessions, and the receptions. There was a
very nice recognition of Ed and Judy Jelks
with a new SHA Travel Fund named for them at the Business meeting. On
Wednesday I personally went on the French Colonial
District Tour which, led by Terry Norris, was one of the best guided tours
I have ever been on.

The Awards Ceremony was long but lively. It included the introduction of
the new James Deetz Book Award as well as all other
SHA awards categories. The photos of Kathy Deagan as a little girl were fun.

All the sessions and individual papers I attended were quite well done. All
in all, SHA 2004 in St Louis was a smashing success.

Finally, we would all like to know the final registration number (Vergil /
Pat-Barbara)?
