ISEN-ASTC-L is a service of the Association of Science-Technology Centers
Incorporated, a worldwide network of science museums and related institutions.
*****************************************************************************

We use lots of programs that have aired on television when they relate
to our theme of the month or a traveling exhibition.
We also had a grant from the National Science Foundation with a number
of museums to provide related programming for Scholastic's The Magic
School Bus television series. We have a small exhibit area setup as Ms
Frizzle's classroom and we do make-it and take-it actvities there
(related to themes from the shows and our own science/technology content.

We also had a grant from WETA to provide programming for Rough Science
(the show from BBC2). We have had several screenings with follow up
activities that families can do together.

We've aired lots of NOVA shows again with follow up activities, space
science videos, animal and insect videos, science of sports related
videos - all to complement our existing programming. And lots more.

Best,
Marcia Rudy

>I am interested in hearing from any museums who use broadcast TV shows or pieces of shows (e.g., PBS, Discovery, National Geo, History, etc) in public programs for kids/families or in school programs for students/teachers. If you do use video or teacher guides from broadcasted programs to structure or enrich your programs, please describe briefly your current usage. Thanks,
