Greetings from Louisiana!
LIGO Livingston Observatory is partnering with Exploratorium, Southern
University and the Louisiana Systemic Iniatives Project to provide an
NSF-funded educational outreach program that will have as features:
(1) a 10,000 sq. ft. Science Education Center with over 40 interactive
exhibits
(2) In-service Teacher Professional Development
(3) Pre-service Teacher Training
(4) General Public Outreach.
We are roughly 6 months into the 5 yr program and have already
accomplished a lot including passing our first NSF Site Review last week.
LIGO is an ASTC member and we, along with some of our partners, plan to
attend the Richmond conference.
We feel like it is perhaps too early in the game to submit our own
proposal but I was wondering if there might be someone out there who is
looking to form a panel from institutions that are currently involved in
a partnering effort.
We're available to participate in some fashion.
Regards,
John Thacker
