John Smyth responds to me:
>>Unfortunately, no one consumer can buck the trend - but as a group, we can
>>perhaps be effective.
>
>Effective at what?
Effective at resisting a new slant on an existing technology that we
don't feel represents a tremendous upgrading of sound quality.
>Sabotaging new technologies by withholding consumer dollars?
"Sabotaging" is an odd word to use, but I suppose that I could be charged
with treason if we lived in the Audio State. Ultimately, the law of
supply of demand will yield a final solution and each consumer will play
a part in the solution. I'll spend my dollars where I want as will John.
In a related posting, John stated that the CD format is obsolete.
If correct, my view is that the SACD format is close to being obsolete.
I prefer to save my dollars until a major advance in sound technology
is achieved. So far, I haven't heard anything from the SACD side that
represents a major advance in my mind.
